What New York City Would Look Like on Other Planets
“Take a trip around the solar system and bring the entire city of New York with you in these captivating drawings showing how the atmospheres of other planets would interact with the iconic metropolitan skyline.
The images were created by artist Nickolay Lamm, who employed the help of astrobiologist Marilyn Browning Vogel to get the details right. Lamm said the idea came to him while looking at pictures that NASA’s Curiosity rover took of Mount Sharp.”

Among last month’s space news highlights were a marooned Russian probe, an extinct volcano on Mars, a cosmic microscope and how they put out the trash at the International Space Station. This is the nebula Sharpless 2-106, a stellar nursery of glowing gas and light-scattering dust, captured by a telescope on La Palma in the Canary Islands.
Australian artists Claire Healy and Sean Cordeiro have depicted the Challenger explosion in Legos for their exhibition Are We There Yet? at the Corcoran Gallery of Art. It is “a fanciful meditation on space travel, coming 50 years after the first human journey into outer space and the more recent shuttering of NASA’s space shuttle program.” Inspired by McAuliffe, who was supposed to teach children from space, the artists decided to use Legos to depict the tragedy.
