JOEL MORRISON
Gagosian - Hong Kong
One thing for sure, Joel Morrison is one of the most exceptional artists I have ever had the pleasure of working with. His recently opened exhibition in Hong Kong is a fantastic exploration in sculpture.
Joel’s ouevre maintains a dynamic conversation between an idiosyncratic sense of humour and art-historical canon of sculpture. Many of his works feature beautiful, mirror-polished and flawless metal surfaces, offering visceral experiences through reflection. There is a fantastic juxtaposition between the high-brow foundations of sculpture, and the playful witty objects which are glorified and classified into themes of pop, surrealism, and classicism.
On a personal note - Joel is one of the most chill, intellectually vibrant, and coolest guys I’ve had the pleasure of hanging out with in a while. Killer.
